I Want To BelieveDo not read into the reviews too much. I have got the feeling that the people who have reviewed it were not great fans of The X-Files the first time around. True, it's not going to win new fans, but it is treat for those who stuck by the show through thick and thin. It is a slowburn film, but I liked the fact that it was more character driven and it asked some quite intelligent questions about religion and faith. Ok, it's not the balls out horror film that Chris Carter promised when the film was first announced (far from it), but the storyline is good and quite believable. It's a shame that it has flopped big time as it doesn't deserve to, but I think it has been released at the wrong time of year against the strongest film of the year (The Dark Knight). It would have been better served with an October release, leading up to Halloween. If your an X-phile, then seek it out, while you have a chance.
4/5

I really want to see this film too but I was quite shocked at the timing of its release ...you would think they would have at least waited a few weeks and still got the summer crowd...it was always going to play second fiddle to a massive film like Dark Knight

I heard it's more about the relationship between Mulder and Scully (I've got that Catatonia song in my head now!) than anything else, so that might have put people off seeing it if they haven't seen the X Files before.
It won't put me off and I'm planning on seeing it soon

It is, but not as much has been said. If you are planning to see it Cat, you don't have much time. My local cinema has relegated it to 1 showing a day at 2125, 1 week after release! Got a feeling that's going to be a common thing across the board, if it hasn't been taken off the smaller cinemas.

Thanks for the info JD It's not been out long so I'm surprised they're demoting it already

I was shocked too. My local had showings at 1030, 1230, 1310 then a 5 HOUR gap. Stupid. Then I looked at next weeks showings and noticed that it was on once a day! THought I wasn't going to get a chance to see it. Luckily got to see it last night, but I honestly think that if you don't see it in the next week, you won't get a chance to see it at the cinema. Good luck Cat!

I actually think its films like this and other films that may flop at the cinema for whatever reason that would benefit from having a legal downloadable system in operation for new releases as I think many more would download the X Files 2 than go to see it in the cinema particularly now

Still rather see it at the cinema.

Well I agree it is the preferred option...I just think people should have varied options and downloads should be one IMO

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the download route as I feel it may ultimately lead to the demise of cinema, which in turn could lead to smaller profits and smaller budgets and possibly low quality films.

jip i mean that the film companies should put the on there site for downlaoding and you paythem that way if the film works , rather than buy it fae the shop .

And your definitely not the only one who thinks that Jipdog but I actually think that people will still go to the cinema mate...at the end of the day its still much better to see a film on a big screen with proper blasting sound but what it might do is make the people who run cinemas a bit more watchful on their prices...the amount of money it costs to go to a cinema and get snacks is an absolute disgrace in my opinion...if they had more competition perhaps WE would benefit more...I also think not everyone can get to go to a cinema when they would like either perhaps with other commitments or whatever and why couldn't they get to see a new release when it comes out through download from the film crowd like Sta was saying there

Good point Luc. Didn't think of it that way.

Unfortunately bud I think it will take alot more to convince the film crowds of its benefits so I think it will be some while before downloads like this come into play

After you worded it like that, I'm now looking forward to the advent of movie downloads so I don't have to put up with numpty's in the cinema giving me the hump!

I'm with you mate.....of course there are some films that you just have to see in the cinema but I think I would pay for a lot more films if I could simply download them
