I Am Legend 2?Richard Matheson, who wrote the original 1954 novel, has signed off sequel rights, meaning, that if Warner Bros come up with a good enough script, there could be a sequel to I Am Legend.
If it comes about, then it'll be the first time IAL has been sequelised.

I didn't even know it was an old 50's novel babe? I wonder will the sequel come in novel form first?

He's in his 80's now so I doubt he'd write another novel as a sequel.....it would be up to a screenwriter to come up with the goods I'd imagine Luc.
I had a look at some other things he'd written......What Dreams May Become, Stir of Echoes and Duel (the famous Steven Spielberg film). He's even written some Twilight Zone episodes and the upcoming The Box movie (that you posted about).......he's a good writer!

Not as yet. By the way Warner Bros. aren't planning a sequel. It's a prequel about the last days of humanity before the virus turns everyone. It's supposed to be starring Will Smith again. If it's set before the outbreak, I can't see there being much scope for action. I could be wrong.

I wondered how they'd carry on with a sequel, so I suppose a prequel makes more sense, but I wonder if they'll focus more on how the outbreak came about this time round?
Anyway, here's a link to the Variety article about a prequel BUT if you haven't seen I Am Legend yet, there's a massive spoiler in it!

Hmmm a prequel...interesting...I thought they may do a kind of Cloverfield job and show another city or the other side of the city or something with the same time frame as the first movie and Smith would co star perhaps but it looks like they want Will Smith to return fully
I think they could do a sequel with Will Smith surviving somehow in that old 'King of the Rocketmen' way Basically it brings us back to the moment when he runs to the glass with the bomb but what we didn't see in the last film was Smith's character blown completely out of the room and although scorched slightly still very much alive and ready for some sequel action it could work

All the ingredients for a cracking zombie-style film were there, just a real let down IMO.
The zombie-thingys were pretty scarey though, although the CGI stuff was a bit iffy!!

Yeah the cgi looked a bit basic in places
I thought the film was quite good but it could have been more menacing and scarier......the worst part for me was what happened to his dog!

Some of the CGI was absolute pap (the zombies), but a lot of it was top rate (deserted New York City).
