Catnapper

Welcome to FilmFlicking Sharon!!!

Is that you on the stripper's pole?
shazlouise

Hi
Yep that’s me on a pole, but not a ‘stripper’s pole’ in sight.  Strippers and pole dancers are completely different entities, but I won’t hold it against you as it’s a common misconception (unfortunately).  Pole fitness is fab for upper body strength, overall fitness and confidence and is a very important part of my life – aside from movies
Here’s a couple of different perspectives other than the sleazy stripper one… enjoy.

Oh sorry about that Sharon  I think however I will always see pole dancing as a sexy thing though I'm afraid but as others here will testify too I basically pretty much see every female sports activity as sexy too

All messing aside thats pretty great...and it does look difficult...was it hard to learn?
shazlouise

Lovin' filmflicking forum by the way.

No probs.
Yeh, incredibly hard work (I'll post some of bruises to prove it)... but so worth it.  And there are loads more pole studios popping up all over the country now.  Would recommend it to anyone.  You should try it sometime!
Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Lucifer_666

Brilliant stuff ....thanks Sharon I'm glad you like here....its people like you.... genuine film fans we want to attract so thats great
Lucifer_666

I don't think a 30 odd year old bald guy with a belly (albeit cute   ) would do very well swinging on a pole....something tellls me you would look miuch better Sharon

Do post the bruises ..I hope that means you will be back to visit here again
shazlouise

Yeh, I'll be a regular visitor... particularly the horror section as it's one of my favourite genres.  (Blair Witch Project, House of 1000 corpses, Halloween, American Werewolf in London etc. etc.)
Love the variety of categories in the forum... there must have been a lot of hard work involved.  It looks great.
Lucifer_666

You have made my day thats fab.. I love horror movies too and so do a few others here

There was hard work involved but very worthwhile Sharon ..we were a bit worried that we may have too many categories and have the forum perhaps too large for new time posters but you found here okay to navigate through?
shazlouise

Oh absolutely.  I don't think it's possible to cram so many categories into just a few as they are all so different and big topics within themselves.
Gonna have fun here I think.
and if I convert at least one person (be it male or female) to the pole, then my work here is done.  Hehe, not really, I'll be around for a while I reckon.
Lucifer_666

Yeah we were struggling to get here shorter ourselves as we agree you do need the separate categories

Hey convert away Sharon I could see Cat on a pole    you would have to post your efforts aswell though

Its great to have a new regular Flicker
big aundy

Lucifer_666

I just like asking questions
Catnapper

There's nothing innocent about you Luc

You mean you asked a question after picking your jaw up from the floor after seeing Shaz's pics
Lucifer_666

Me?? Moi??  I'm as innocent and pure as the driven snow

My jaw was not hanging open...  my eyes did bulge slightly...erm as did other things
big aundy

Here's a couple...
The first is from the pose in my avatar pic.

I think this one looks like a cloud.
Lucifer_666

Ouch they look painful actually Shaz..but I suppose no pain no gain... eh John?

All messing aside they do look sore
JohnG

I actually had a go on Shaz's pole one (drunken) night.  Suffice to say, the cracked ribs eventually healed but my pride is damaged for good
Lucifer_666

"I think this looks like a cloud"

you examine your bruises alot don't you?   nice legs by the way...very athletic like...am I allowed to say that John
Lucifer_666

I bet that was some sight John   can I ask a question have you both  fitted this pole in your bedroom?
shazlouise

I have a whole brand new sparkling pole room to myself (which used to house a family of animals... but John will tell you that story).  But now it's all mine! *laughs maniacally*
JohnG

The pole used to be in the bedroom but it became very tiresome walking headfirst into it every time I needed a pee at four in the morning.
JohnG

Lucifer_666 wrote:

You're obviously a man of good taste.
Lucifer_666

I can imagine   ...though personally I think I would take the headache at 4 am to have my lady pole dance for me from the comfort of my bed     I'd say you could tell a story or two....and don't let the fact that I'm a little horny devil and that this is a public forum stop you....feel free

So you both got rid of some pets to keep Shaz poling ...poor animals      So is this room now the Pole Room? you know what you both should have done....cut a hole in the floor/ceiling and have the pole double as a kind of fireman's pole too...that way John could have fun too without ....erm... breaking ribs
Lucifer_666

Yeah! I can pretend I'm a GhostBuster!  I like it
Lucifer_666

Thats what I would do too    or Batman

And Shaz can still use it for pole dancing too..everyone's a winner
JohnG

Lucifer_666 wrote:

Oh, don't worry, the animals are fine, they were just relocated.  The rabbit went into the kitchen (not in the oven), the chinchilla went into the back room and the tarantula and frog went into the front room (with the other tarantulas).  And they all lived happily ever after.
Lucifer_666

chinchilla? ....Frog?........tarantulas?
Your pulling an old devil's leg now?
JohnG

Nope, no leg pulling.  We have a dog (Dylan), a cat (Stanley), a Chinchilla (Bowie), a rabbit (Earl), a guinea pig (Rufus), a Tropical tree frog (Bruce), a Chilean rose tarantula (Baby), a Mexican red knee tarantula (Tiny), a Brazilian salmon-pink bird eating spider (Beauty) and a Cameroon red baboon spider (Angel).
Let me introduce you to Baby...
Lucifer_666

Crikey!!! would your dog not eat him and the rest? ..we used to have a little dog and he used to love killing spiders and then rolling around in them

That Cameroon red baboon spider?.....he must have a red ass with a name like that...god bless it

And what do you feed the spiders...well I think I already know what you feed Beauty...urrgghhhh

Oh and great music track ...very apt
shazlouise

Hi all!
Thought I'd post a bit of an update...
I entered my first pole dance competition last month! It was the 'Pole Divas Championships' which is the first national comp.  I entered the Manchester (north-west) heat.  I came second, but have a second chance at getting to the final, which is also gonna be held in Manchester, if I submit a video and win the 'online heat'.  The final will be held in November and I've been training my ass off to hopefully get there.  It was SOOO much fun.

Anyhoo... Here's my routine for the amateur round (which means you can't go upside down).  There was also the advanced amateur (which I was too scared to enter for my first comp), and professional level, who were amazing!
Btw... See if you can spot the part where I bust my ankle and tear some ligaments.  Nice!  I ended up in a&e later that night and on crutches for a few days.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gR9lSEKKxI
Catnapper

Congrats Shaz   you were brill!!

I couldn't spot where you got hurt....you covered it up well! Hope you're better now and good luck with your next comp
shazlouise

Aaaaw thanks Catnapper.     All the girls there were so supportive and it really was SO much fun despite all the mistakes and bits I forgot to do.
Really hope I can do it again, but it was one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done.  But worth it.  x
Lucifer_666

Yep Cat is right Shaz you were fantastic there..well done       you have got a lot of guts to go up there and perform ...I know I couldn't do it ....even with my killer ass movements around a pole

I also never noticed when you hurt yourself....my best guess was just near the end but I really didn't pinpoint with certainty any particular moment

By the way a quick question...do you think that the outfit worn has any bearing on the judgemnent of the routine in these competitions?
shazlouise

Lucifer_666 wrote:

oh yeh! Here's a quote from the rules...
"
• Suitable Attire
o Minimum of hotpants (gluteous crease must be covered)
o Minimum of a cropped top
o No underwear showing (strap of bra is acceptable)
o No promotional items of clothing
o Accessories should not pose H&S issues
o Striptease, intentional removal or part removal of clothing is prohibited this includes accessories, e.g. hats, gloves etc.
o Competitors wearing inappropriate outfits will be prevented from performing during any event
o Outfits should be cross-checked with an Organiser in advance of the event if in any doubt and NOT left until the day of the event!"

My gluteous crease was most definately covered!
I love that some someone sat down to write the rules, and thought  "Hmmmm... what sounds more professional than ass crack?"

I was one of the few who didn't wear heels, and I was the one with the busted ankle.
Lucifer_666

Thats class   I get the feeling a thesarus was used there too

Though the lady that won it in your other video (Fran I think) looked to be stretching that old gluteous crease rule a bit   erm stretching it alot

They must really want it to be seen as a Sport...you'll be all wearing white next klike Wimbledon
shazlouise

Yes! I'm not bitter or anything (much) but she did breach the rules a tad!
You're right they really are (and rightly so) trying to move as far away from the usual perception of pole dancing by emphasising the dance, athleticism, and beauty of it, but when girls are wiggling their ass cheeks (sorry... gluteous creases) about the place, I don't think it makes the right impression.
If you get chance have a gander at the professional competitors on youtube.  But for now here's Sasha who competed and won in the advanced amateur level when I was there.  Love her!

Lucifer_666

You should have worn them blue silky pants you wore in one of those exercise vids you did.....  you would have won right left and center

Though in fairness I wouldn't like to see it going that away from the whole sexualisation either after all most big sports today use sex to sell in some form or another for example tennis .....

As for Sasha...she was exellent...but is it just me that got a little freaked out by that . ...some of her routine looked abnormal    It was spiderwoman    I personally thought your routine was sexier   ...oh...and erm,....hi John too ...erm if your there
JohnG

Shaz should've won, she was, without doubt, the best and (yes Luc) the sexiest.
I was the one filming the whole event.  When I arrived and was shown into the bar area to set up, I was surrounded by athletic women in shorts who were stretching (I think I had a dream about that, once???)
... anyway, the injury happened about halfway through the performance, but Shaz carried on, then afterwards we all went to get pizza in Manchester.  Four hours later (around midnight) I was dragging her round Blackburn A&E in a most undignified manner (the NHS want to get some user friendly wheelchairs).  What a trooper.
Lucifer_666

You lived the male dream man ...some people get all the breaks.....     you lucky bugger

Fair dues to Shaz for carrying on though with the injury   it must have been painful
