Heath's Joker gets rave reviewBatman-On-Film translated a review of The Dark Knight after it was given a Latin American screening. The critic says about Heath Ledger's Joker....."A mixture of a fool/clown, schizophrenic, sadistic and crazy. The guy delivered, got himself into the role and it's unrecognisable. There will be no other Joker after him."

In one scene, The Joker repeats a line from Brokeback Mountain to Batman.........

That sounds brilliant ...I had no doubt though that he would be great in the part....its just an awful pity that he died now isn't it and can't continue in another movie.....
I wonder what line it is

It could be any line......I couldn't make out what he was saying most of the time

Why did you see the clip where he says the line babe?

No, I haven't seen the clip Luc....I meant he mumbled a lot in Brokeback Mountain so I couldn't tell what he said sometimes, but that suited the character.
As well as praising Heath Ledger, the same critic said the cast's awesome, the movie's dark and it will blow us away.

I enjoyed 'Batman Begins' so I might have to see this when it comes out. Plus the Joker's always been a fantastic foe for Batman which is a draw. It'll be interesting to see if Ledger's any different than Jack Nicholson was when he played the role.

I think he will be Morphy I think the Joker in this will be much more on the edge...much darker more scary insane than Jack Nicholson's portrayal was...more like the comics I remember actually ...well I hope so anyway.
This is that early review that you were referring to earlier Cat and it shows the line from Brokeback Mountain
| Quote: | "My secret agent between the Armani suits saw a super private session for THE DARK KNIGHT and came out drooling. It will be a great success, he guarantees, the gadgets (especially the [Bat-Pod], responsible for a acclaimed action sequence ) are crazy and Heath Leger might receive a deserved indication for his Joker, ‘a mixture of a fool/clown, schizophrenic, sadistic, and crazy. The guy delivered, got himself into the role and it's unrecognizable. There will be no other Joker after him.’"
"In one scene he repeats to Christian Bale's Batman a line from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (The guy probably is probably confused here) ‘you complete me’ -- but in context of 'stalker, crazy/scary.'"
“My ‘Bond’ tells more about the somber epic of Chris Nolan:‘It's incredible to create something new and exciting, not only for i's history but in technical terms, nowadays. Many great scenes, impeccable effects. Music and sounds pretty loud, but helping the story. They have a heart beat they use in a sensational way (Remember the 2 note theme from the interview with Zimmer?!), anticipating the next scene -- a psychological trigger ala JAWS ('tan-tan, taqn-tan') ."
"The cast is awesome, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman stealing scenes in which all are present. Maggie Gyllenhaal fantastic replacing Katie Holmes and Aaron Eckhart as a great surprise as the politician with a heart of gold whose personality changes after a horrible accident. Another surprise is Eric Roberts as the mobster he knows so well how to do. Christian Bale solid as ever, cool since Bruce Wayne is a rich playboy and Batman is the opposite. The film plays a lot with this duality, all the characters are complex, has ambiguities, very interesting and delicate here."
"The humor/comedy is totally dark, the movie is very dark and, in this version, a little too long. But will blow us away.” |

Hmm good choice of line which, by the looks of it, is done in a menacing kind of way.
This is sad.......Fox news reports that Heath Ledger was warned not to let the movie take over his life and was apparently told to seek a psychiatrist's help. A source said "He would come to the set on his days off, freaking everyone out. Towards the end of filming, he was warned by people he had gone too far. But it was almost like he couldn't connect with those who cared for him."
If it's true then it's very sad......you hear about actors becoming so immersed in a role they find it difficult to shake the character off, even when they stop filming. I'm hoping it was just Heath's way of connecting with the Joker and trying to scare people so the end results look even better in the movie.

Yeah lots of actors do that method acting kind of thing and that looks like what Heath Ledger was doing I wouldn't even be surprised if he was being encouraged to do it too.... to really get into the part and cause a stir even among his fellow actors and behind the scenes....it does add to the whole thing doesn't it...... The media are great at coming up with this stuff but at
the end of the day it had nothing to do with his death...which was declared a tragic accident and had he not died this whole thing would have been seen as a great selling point and a compliment to Ledger's acting ability
