Good Elvis booksI've been reading a lot of books on the 'king of rock and roll' as research for my dissertation gathers pace. If you're a fan of Mr Presley, I recommend-
'Tryin To Get To You- Aspects Of Elvis' edited by Alan Clayson and Spencer Leigh, which is a collection of essays by a motley crew of music writers on the various facets of Elvis's careers in both music and the movies.
'Elvis' by Albert Goldman, which is a very unsympathetic biography of the man from Memphis but a good research source nonetheless.
'Last Train To Memphis- The Rise Of Elvis Presley', which is a very well written account of the early years of his career.
'Careless Love- The Unmaking Of Elvis Presley', which is a second volume by Peter Guralnick looking at the later years of Elvis and his untimely death.
'Dead Elvis' by Greil Marcus, which is a look at Elvis as a cultural phenomenon even years after he died.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on other books I could look up?
