The 6 acts announced to battle it out to be the UK's entry to this year's Eurovision Song Contest are.........

Michelle Gayle.......ex EastEnder who had a hit with her song Sweetness years ago

Andy Abraham.......was one of the favourites to win X Factor in 2006

Rob McVeigh.......competed to try and win the role of Joseph on the TV reality show Any Dream Will Do

Simona Armstrong.......was in the How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria TV reality prog

Then we've got 2 girl groups rounding the acts off........LoveShy and The Revelations

No matter who wins they won't have a hope of winning Eurovision.

Well I suppose it depends on the song.....why is it that its always about the people who sing it in the UK these days and not the songs?

As for winning Our Turkey is going to do that...who'd have thought I could ever say that

Hardly any country votes for the UK so even if we had a fantastic song we still wouldn't win!

Get voting for Dustin to win Luc......I want to see him/it at the Eurovision

the problem is since the iraq war , and all that every euro song contest , no one likes anymore so they never vote for us , may be we should just pull the plug on it ,

after all if we didi that then there would be no competiton .

Yep I do think that is a factor but that is not the reason you haven't won...as the songs the UK have entered with were really crap aswell

There was a debate about Dustin in Eurovision yesterday on a programme and loads were on saying he was making a mockery of the competition that we won more than any other country...others were stating that the Euro has changed now big time and its not about the song really any more.....I reckon let the Turkey represent us we couldn't do much worse than last year anyway

I can't even remember the UK entry from last year

It's all about politics more than anything else.......you just know which countries will vote for each other even though their songs might be rubbish. I think we should stop entering it!

Well we did it.....Dustin is representing Ireland

Well he could do no worse than we did last year ....we'll have to wait and see if he makes it past the semis

There's an article about him in today's paper. The European Broadcasting Union aren't happy he might be representing Ireland and they want him banned

One official said "a puppet on Eurovision would make a mockery of all that the contest stands for"

Bob Geldof said "It would be rank poultryism should one of the greatest talents Ireland has ever produced be not allowed to represent our glorious musical heritage"

"If the Eurovision Song Contest is known for anything at all, it is for the vast number of turkeys it produces each year. The fact that Dustin IS a turkey should give Ireland the edge. Ireland will gobble them up."

There is people here in Ireland too that aren't happy and in fairness Dustin cannot sing

but as far as I can see that doesn't matter these days when you win the eurovision ...anyone can win it if you have a gimmick and as Geldof said its known for producing Turkeys so why shouldn't our Irish Turkey go there?

They've had weird acts on before so what's wrong with having a turkey singing?! He was voted for fair and square by the Irish.......I can see a diplomatic row erupting!

Well no harm but considering the voting system of late and the countries all voting for their neighbours its a bit rich for them to be complaining about us Irish bringing the comnpetition down

I think it's about time they pulled the plug on it........it's more political than about the music these days and it's not as if the winner goes on to have hit records!

Actually she was on the Irish contest as a judge giving her opinion on the night and she was giving out about the Turkey representing us aswell

Anybody watch the prog to see who's representing the UK? I taped it then decided to just watch the results prog later on instead

I didn't think much of Michelle Gayle's song and the winning song sung by Andy Abraham wasn't all that fantastic either......maybe it'll grow on me eventually

Being honest I was happy for Andy Abraham babe.... those other two idiots who I cannot have

) were going for Michele Gayle and more or less said he
wasn't right...and being frank what in the name of God would Barrowman know? This is a guy who thought that Airline crap the UK went with last year had a chance of winning

....why they had him judging again is beyond me....luckily enough Terry Wogan give Andy his wild card option.
Not that I think he'll win but I think he'll get middle ground territory...respectable territory

I said I didn't think much of Andy Abraham's song at the time.......but it's grown on me and I keep singing the chorus to myself

I laughed when the 2 judges (yeah, she's called Carrie!) voted for Michelle Gayle and they got it wrong!

and I did laugh too...I got the feeling actually that was part of the reason Andy got the vote to just show them two up
