I just read this on Dark Horizons....This story keeps changing by the day...The last I heard and had discussions with both Cat and K about this was that they had decided to use a CGI Heath to fill in the gaps but now.....
Despite reps for Johnny Depp offering an official denial the other week, AICN reports that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor is still very much involved in taking over part of the role left behind by the death of Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus".
What's more interesting though is that they say two other actors will be joining Depp to film those segments that Ledger won't be able to do - Jude Law and Colin Farrell - and says that all three names are verified. Shooting is about to start up again in Vancouver on the project. More as it comes.
Personally I hope this is true because I think its a far better idea than the cgi thing and it is a nice way to remember Heath Ledger

That's excellent news Luc.....and much better than the cgi idea that was said about before. Having such a great actor as Johnny Depp back on board for the film will be a fitting tribute to Heath Ledger.
Lucifer_666
I'm delighted too Cat ....I wonder though will other A-listers get involved too or will it remain just the three? I was surprised Jake Gyllenhall wasn't asked ....he was mean't to be quite effected by Ledger's death
K
That is good news! It will be a better 'send off' for Heath Ledger than some stupid CGI thing. I love Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell; Jude Law is okay I suppose. I have a feeling that the actors themselves probably said something like 'hang on, we'd like to act in this film, why can't we?' and rejected the idea of CGI.
I think everyone has been shocked by his death but I suppose those who actually acted with him in films and got to know him have been most upset. I think Jake G was his friend- they were at the BAFTAs together last year
Spoiler:
So horribly ironic that it was Jake's character who died in Brokeback Mountain, then Heath died in real life
Did anyone see the BAFTAs this year, with the montage of film people who had died in the past year? Heath was last as he died last. It was awful to see such a young actor amongst the shots of the old timers who died after long and happy lives
Catnapper
It was very emotional seeing him in the tribute K......some of the stars in the audience were crying too
K
As Luc said above that Jake G was very affected by the death of Heath, I looked them up on Google and it said that he was devastated. I didn't know they had become best friends and they socialised with their girlfriends, friends and relations all together. It said that Jake is godfather to little Matilda and will be playing a big part in her upbringing. That is nice, [although obviously the ideal would be for Heath not to have died at all] As regards the film, maybe they asked Jake to act in it and he was too upset?
Lucifer_666
Yep I reckon your right K that it must have hit alot of hollywood stars quite a bit harder as they more than likely worked with him for good periods of time
I missed the tribute bit though I did watch the Baftas...funny talking about the Baftas I was going to put a post up but I actually thought they were a bit boring this year...the only thing of real note was the fact that they had more stars there priobably due to to being a lack of award ceremonies in the States....oh and that really bad echo at the beginning when Jonathan Ross was trying to present
Catnapper
The echo didn't bother me Luc cause I taped it and fast forwarded whenever Jonathan Ross appeared
Lucifer_666
You fastforwarded poor JR? He actually went down at certain times like a lead balloon I thought ...niot one of his best performances
Catnapper
I should imagine some of the stars would have trouble understanding him in the first place Luc Course it didn't help with the sound problems too.......BAFTA are said to be furious with the BBC
Lucifer_666
Your probably right ....
I bet they are mad it looked really awful that they couldn't iron out some basic sound problems before airing..had they ever heard of a sound test before?
Catnapper
I thought they did sound tests too but something went drastically wrong on the night.....maybe Sky were jealous the BBC were showing them
Lucifer_666
Maybe Sky sent in an agent to sabatoge the Baftas on the BBC
