Out of interest I was wondering what your favourite cover version/versions to listen to are! I think my favourite has to be Devo's version of 'Satisfaction' by the Rolling Stones, I love both bands and what Devo did to the song was extraordinary- they totally transformed it in comparison to the original Stones version, and I've always thought that the key to a good cover is to take a song and really make it yours. That's a totally different take on Satisfaction......I like it!

Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends is a good cover version and I like Jose Feliciano's version of Light My Fire.......I'll have to think of some more!

Yeah, it's an interesting topic isn't it? Now I come to think of it there are a few good ones that spring to mind- among them Nirvana's version of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World' and The Pixies doing 'Winterlong' by Neil Young. I like the White Stripes version of the Dusty Springfield's number....'I just don't know what to do with myself'

And I like Roxy Music's version of Jealous Guy aswell

I actually quite like the different take that Marilyn Manson does on different songs ..he makes them have an almost demonic feel to them

Handbags and Gladrags by Steroephonics is just as good as the Rod Stewart original.

I like David Bowie's cover of "All the Young Dudes" which was a hit by Mott the Hoople but Bowie wrote it!

Here's an interesting one. On the new Queen + Paul Rodgers album there's a cover of "Runaway" by Del Shannon. It's surprisngly heavy, but very good. Bad news is, it's not on the cd, it's on the iTunes download.

Paul Rodgers has fitted in well with Queen but I can't imagine them covering Runaway....have they slowed it down and made it heavy metal sounding?
