Cinema pricesI went to see 'Hancock' today at my local Vue cinema and I have to say their prices are a complete rip off! It cost my companion and I £6.40 for our tickets and nearly £10 for a medium popcorn and two regular size Cokes. Now I know cinemas make the majority of their profit from food and drink sales rather than tickets etc, but I still think the cost of cinemagoing is becoming extortionate. I hadn't been to the cinema in a long while and was shocked to find out how much it now costs, including transport ( we had to get a bus followed by a ferry).
Whether its just Vue who charge a hefty sum for entrance and associated costs or whether its an across the board trend I think its terrible that its so pricey, luckily we could comfortably afford it but I'd imagine some people might find it harder to pay that much. And I just think its not fair that these people put such a high fee on something that should be affordable for all. I'd love to know what you all think on the subject!

Its disgraceful really that they can get away with charging that kind of money for stuff in the cinema...it really shouldn't be allowed there should be some law preventing them from doing that...its bad enough the cost of the damned ticket without blowing prices of every thing else....take your own stuff with you bud...put them in your pockets or something

I have done so before at other cinemas and got away with it but apparently Vue are rather strict and don't let you get away with it! Its scandalous but I suppose the cinemas are trying to protect their lucrative profits. There should be a cap on what prices they can charge- they're peicing some people out of going which isn't fair at all, after all cinema sells itself as being accessible to all.

The best way they can protect their profits if you ask me is to sell stuff at reasonable fair prices that way people wouldn't mind spending in there and wouldn;t even think about taking stuff in

It's disgraceful how cinemas try and force you to pay exorbitant prices for food and even search bags in case you've smuggled sweets in I can't see how the law lets them get away with it......it's blatant profiteering

Too right it is, and its wrong. I reckon the one thing that would force change is if there were a massive downturn in attendances. Perhaps then the big chains would realise they need people like us and make prices more affordable.

they wonder why folks just don't go to the cinema anymore , well it's because people are reluctant to pay 7 quid a ticket , then about another 10-15 quid on top of that for food ,
1. bring the prices down - more people will go
2. if someone wants to download a film - charge them the right price in the shops to download it ,
2 things that might see more people go to the cinema
