Christmas Music

Seeing as we are doing the Xmassy movies I thought I would add some tunes I like to listen to aswell at this time of year....I'll add alot more as time goes on but here's my two favourite along with a different version of each I like ......

Carol of the Bells (choir)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUocS-dr-K4

This is a different version of Carol of the Bells performed by the transiberian orchestra and I think Metallica had something to do with this too..its good

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xa_maqPRsU

This is Oh Holy Night (I prefer men singing this but I'm still not sure which is best) its song by one of the best though Michael Crawford

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfTcdwQ81fw

And here's a South Park version of it ...I actually have this one in the car with all my carols too lol

I'm feeling all Christmassy now! excellent song choice Luc

Every time I hear Carol of the Bells I always think of Home Alone The Metallica vid is great too......I'd love a house like that and have thick snow too at Christmas!

Michael Crawford's turned into a fine singer hasn't he? I wonder when singers are performing that song if they get worried about hitting the high notes at the end?! I think I've got him singing it on one of my Xmas cds......I'll have to have a look!

The Southpark vid isn't available Luc......I hate it when I post a link and that happens to me! Keep the songs coming though
Lucifer_666

Yeah I'm really starting to get into the Christmassy mood myself

I'm the same I think of Home Alone too ...That choir do a beautiful version of it and I really like the way its then blended with the action music of Kevin running home from the church....
The carol also features at the beginning of The Santa Clause
I love that Metallica version too I have that in my car christmas music too though I have lots of christmas music in there

Michael Crawford is exellent singing it I also really like Mario Lanza's version aswell though I can't find it on Youtube
And yep I reckon they do worry they mightn't reach the top note but they usually do and U think their fans would usually forgive them if at a concert

Yeah blast it if you see some of the other vids on the South Park one that are available there is one called South Park Oh Holy Night and you will at least be able to hear it...I'll see if I can find it elsewhere though
Catnapper

Some others I like are Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas.....I love how it sets off quiet then builds to a big ending

It Was Only a Winter's Tale by David Essex......a nice, gentle Xmas song

Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth by Bing Crosby and David Bowie......you'd never think of those 2 performing together but it works! It's funny how Bing Crosby avoids looking at David Bowie in the video though
Lucifer_666

Here's a couple more songs I like.....

Like yourself Cat I love the Little Drummer Boy too

Another Bloomin Christmas (Father Christmas)

Put a little Love in your Heart (Annie Lennox and Al Green)

Johnny Mathis - When A Child is Born.... this always brings me back to when I was very young

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyAmJBvKZWM

Mel & Kim Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPuRA1rZuTA

Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song

Oh and just for you Cat....
Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas

Catnapper

I tried posting the link to Greg Lake the other night but it wouldn't work .......thank goodness yours worked though

I love The Christmas Song too Luc but I prefer Mel Torme's version! I think he actually wrote it and I always think his phrasing's perfect when he sings it! (not that I'm an expert on music!)

You know how I said I had Michael Crawford's Oh Holy Night on cd? Well I got that particular cd out.......it's got all Xmas songs on it.......and Michael Crawford's on it singing that well known Xmas song.......When You Wish Upon a Star??? I don't know why they included that on a Xmas cd!
Lucifer_666

I'm not sure if I know the Mel Torme's version Cat .. I probably do though I must look out for it now

The Disney song?? Well maybe some consider it Xmassy??
Madamhoney

It's funny Carol of the Bells and Oh Holy Night are my 2 fave carols too. I actually like the version Michelle McManus did, maybe cause that's the first time I ever heard it, for me it sounds strange a man singing it - lol

Silent Night has always been a fave too and I love singing the descant to O Come All Ye Faithful. I'd love to go to a carol concert but unfortunately it involves religion too - lol
Lucifer_666

Thats probably why I really like men singing it too Honey ..because the very first time I heard it it was a male version..its funny because personally I don't think women do the song justice at all

You know I doubt you would be the only one Honey who goes to a Christmas mass for the choir...I know when I was young it became the only mass we would go to (christmas eve) and it was never really like a mass because everything looked different and they were singing carols...though I suppose I was that excited then I could have been brought to a femist meeting and think it interesting
Madamhoney

LOL It's funny how someone who loves women so much has so much disdain for them too.

I couldn't be bothered with all the prayers and readings, if it was just singing carols that'd be fine. The rest is such boring nonsense. Besides, being trapped in a building with a load of religious nut cases isn't my idea of fun!! lol
Lucifer_666

That is a very wrong statement Honey (thats two today now )

Just because I don't like the hardcore Feminists of today does not mean I hate women its like me saying I hate the KluKlux Clan and then you assessing from that that I hate all white people....

I think you may find on a Christmas eve that you are not surrounded so much by many religious nuts at all but just people like yourself just there for the musical experience
big aundy

i love that saying , big roond wans
Madamhoney

Well, it's not just from that statement but stuff you've said over the years. You seem to have a dislike of strong female characters somehow seeing them as being OTT and unrealistic, and only there to please the extreme feminists. That is how you come across, whether that's what you actually think or not.

nuts nuts nuts
Lucifer_666

Sta I'm going to kill you for changing them words....you just can't say n.ut.s these days here

Thats not true either Honey for example one of my favourite films ever is Aliens I love the Ripley character who is a strong woman I also love Terminator 1 where Sarah Connor becomes a much more determined and kick ass character by the end of the film....what irritates me is nowadays every film or programme has to have a strong female character which is unrealistic.......it is also very pc too and many do this by making the male characters cowards or weaklings.... and personally I think it ruins it
Madamhoney

Well lots of men are cowards or weaklings!!
For example, at work there is a lot of trouble at the moment, there are quite a few men gone off with stress rather than face the music (which they'll have to do eventually). What a bunch of girl's blouses!
However, there is one woman who has handed her notice in and walked on principle. No women have gone off with stress.
Lucifer_666

Oh that proves it then

When it comes to fighting or taking command in most dangerous situations in reality its usually men who stand up and women that cower....thats not being critiical of women but fact and in a way you can't blame women because they are physically weaker by design so when I see women do things on tv or films all the time that are almost unbelieveable while the fellas are practically hiding behind them it does annoy me
Madamhoney

Nevermind, another thing to agree to disagree on.
Lucifer_666

Hey Honey my life just wouldn't be the same if we were agreeing all the time
Catnapper

Showing stronger women makes a nice change from those old films where the woman always fell down and hurt her ankle in chase scenes, then the guy had to carry her!
Lucifer_666

Well of course I'm not advocating that we should just go back to the way women were in old films but I do think it goes on too many occasions today the full reverse where you literally have women carrying the screaming pathetic man out
Catnapper

What's happened to the Christmas music?!!

Another of my faves is Wizzard's I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day".......I'm singing it to myself as I'm posting!
Lucifer_666

Oh right Babe back to the music

I like that one too.....'Its the most wonderful time of the year' you know its the one from the M&S ads with Antonio Baneras and Twiggy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HHVQ0RxbYM

I really like that Wizard song too Cat
Catnapper

Yeah I like the Andy Williams song too and I like Antonio Banderas as well
big aundy

bandyass has made a song whats that all about
Catnapper

Trust you to come up with that name!

What song is it Andy? He's sung before in Evita and I saw him perform in a concert (on tv that is!) .....he's not a bad singer!
Lucifer_666

Maybe Sta thought I said Banderas (bandyass ) was singing that song???....he's just in the ad mate If I'm wrong ....then Cat's question applies for me too ...are you confused?? I know I am

Your rightr too Cat he is a good singer not that I doubt it is his vocal that you like
big aundy

i did think that lucy oooopppssssss
Catnapper

I'm glad that's cleared up cause I was confused too

He's gorgeous looking if that's what you mean Luc
Lucifer_666

I figured that...oh well thats all that confusion cleared up now.... I don't know whats so special about Banyass (I kind of like that name for him now ) Cat he's all tanned, rugged, well toned and has a sexy accent....well so what?
