Blair Witch Project SequelThe co-writing and directing duo behind The Blair Witch Project have revealed that they are planning a new sequel to the 1999 horror movie.
Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick told the BBC that they had distanced themselves from 2000 follow-up Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, on which they acted as executive producers but were not otherwise involved.
Myrick said: "We felt a little betrayed because we wanted to let the Blair Witch hype die down a little because it was so out of control and there was a bit of a backlash.
"But they wanted to strike while the iron was hot and they went ahead and made the movie for what we thought were all the wrong reasons. We felt that the story of that movie broke the mythology."
Sánchez added: "We don't feel too responsible for that movie, because we had very little to do with it once we stated our objection to where it was headed. At the same time, it does have the Blair Witch name on it."
Regarding a new sequel, Sanchez continued: "Ideally, each Blair Witch film would be a completely different kind of movie. We've thought about doing a film that takes place in the late 1700s and looks like a [Stanley] Kubrick movie with gritty-looking people and lighting.
"But now, we're thinking about going back and and seeing what happened directly after the first film finished. I think it will have some kind of video element in it, but it won't be a first person hand-held movie."
I just don't know where they would go with it to be honest???...... unless they make the movie about them (the real film makers) making the sequel and some strange force doesn't want them too and weird dangerous things happen

The first film was excellent and ended on a cliffhanger but if they carry on from that point with a new film, I think it could spoil things. I'm glad they're not going with the wobbly handheld camera effect...I had to keep looking away!

I also like the idea that they want to make each Blair movie in a different style ..... though if they don't have a proper script or story it will make no difference what way its shot it will still flop

The original felt fresh and innovative...I can't see how they could better it

they can't . .....unless they themselves in real life disappeared and then released a supposed film of their last moments ...perhaps making a sequel
