All You Need Is LoveI'm seeing this tomorrow at one of my local theatres. It's a celebration of the music of the Sixties, taking in everything from the Beatles, Rolling Stones etc to soul music and other styles that defined the era. From what I've read online and in local papers it sounds quite good. Although I'm too young to remember the times when the artists involved were strutting their stuff in the charts I do like the music so hopefully my lack of knowledge of the times won't hold me back too much!
Expect a review later in the week....

Which film is this? I am a slave to 60s music. I hate the crap that people associate with the 60s: Scott Mckenzie's 'If your going to San Fransisco', a cynical attempt to cash in on the hippie ideal (and a rubbish song) and 'let's go, to San Francisco' by the Flowerpot men... don't EVEN get me started. Listen to the Grateful Dead, The Band, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Donovan. Have you seen 'Festival Express'?

I love 60s music too There's just something about that era and all the great bands and music that came out at that time
Is it a stage show rather than a film Morphy? I'm looking forward to your review

It is indeed a stage show, and I must say it was pretty good. There's no real story to it, it's more a 'music throughout the Sixties' extravaganza, but it works fairly well. There's something for everyone- from rock ( The Beatles 'Get Back' and the Rolling Stones 'Honky Tonk Women' amongst the rocking efforts, to soul ( Aretha Franklin's 'RESPECT' and the Mamas And The Papas 'California Dreaming' nestle in among the more soulful efforts of the era). Some bands/artists got more than one song performed ( The Beatles and The Four Seasons are two examples), but all in all it was a good show, very well choreographed and planned out. In particular the transitions between songs were done very well, and you could tell the performers were enjoying it.
Most of the singers were fairly good and the dancers stayed very faithful to the trends of the time. I'd recommend catching it yourself if this comes to a venue near you, you'll appreciate it if you love older music.
