Affleck Movie no UK release due to Madeline caseI see that Ben Affleck's new directorial debut film has been shelved for a UK release over the Madeline McCann case... The film called Gone Baby Gone apparently has alot of similarities including the little actress
who plays the missing child....her real name is Madeleine too
The movie stars Affleck's brother Casey and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman.
So the real question is should a film or tv programme be halted like this due to real events?? And if so... for how long??

I remember that Swordfish was shelved soon after the terrorist attacks on the two towers. I can see why (respect and all) and I think they had scheduled a film called the seige on for the day of The bombings in London, which was subsequently cancelled, But for how long? is it ok to bring out the film if they find her (dead or alive)?

I'm starting to really feel mate that a film is a film and should be seen like that.......for example when My Father died I didn't expect every film the same year that featured a father dying to be shelved or banned
I think people can read too much into films and their impact..
Child's Play 3 is another film Chump that springs to mind

It's more about being seen to be insensitive rather than actually being concerned that the company is actually being insensative.
A business decision to keep being seen as decent or ethical or something!

I do think myself its political correctness in a way....film companies must be seen as you say mate as decent, ethical or sensitive....because for some reason a part of society or the media thinks it should be like that...... I just think its a bit silly at the end of the day a film is just a film and should viewed no more than that and just because something is in the public eye shouldn't make any difference to a separate film and its plot no matter how similar....after all we all know its not Madeline that Afleck's movie is about
