3D Musketeers

Paul W.S. Anderson ("Resident Evil," "Event Horizon") is planning a 3D version of Alexandre Dumas' classic tale "The Three Musketeers" for Constantin Film and Impact Pictures says Heat Vision Blog.

Anderson and Andrew Davies ("Bridget Jones' Diary," "The Tailor of Panama") co-wrote the script which though having a contemporary feel it will still be a period setting.

Dumas' 1844 book follows d’Artagnan, a young man who leaves home to become a member of the fighting force of the French king’s royal household.

Along the way, he makes friends with three of the force’s best — and most disgraced — members: Athos, Porthos and Aramis, whose creed of friendship is “All for one and one for all!”

Anderson hopes to shoot the film in France and Germany next year for a 2011 release.

The property has been adapted numerous times before, the most recent notable version being Disney's 1993 adaptation starring Charlie Sheen, Tim Curry, Kiefer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell.

The last major studio take on the material was 2001's "The Musketeer" with Justin Chambers, Stephen Rea, Tim Roth and Catherine Deneuve which brought Asian high-wire martial arts stunts to the period setting.

Not another version   I've got the book, seen the films (many times!) and I've even got the version with Gene Kelly in it...he does a lot of leaping around from what I can remember
Lucifer_666

yeah i remember that Gene Kelly one  and he did jump about alot though my fav was always the Michael York one
Catnapper

Yeah the Michael York films were good....even if he did look too old to play a young Gascon called D'Artagnon

I just remembered a fact......Roy Kinnear died during the making of one of the films....
Lucifer_666

good fact babe   apparently his role was completed by a double and a British actor who was a soundalike for him.
Catnapper

If I remember right, he was filming a scene where he was riding a horse over some cobbles. The horse slipped and fell and he was killed. They did a good job of salvaging the film cause you can't tell they used a double!
Lucifer_666

my god really....i thought it was natural causes    crikey what a way to go
Catnapper

No it was a terrible accident Luc. There things happen sometimes on films
Lucifer_666

what a shame for him and his family
