Now I'm no Trekkie but I thought all you fans would like to hear this! It's a song by an obscure late Seventies punk band called Spizzenergi which goes by the name 'Where's Captain Kirk?' and was acclaimed by late Radio One DJ John Peel as the best ( possibly only) Star Trek associated song ever.
Check this out- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3B4Lw7VM0g
And imagine my surprise when I found out REM had covered it as a B side for a single from their 'Automatic For The People' album. Here's their version for comparative purposes- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqstoTZaUc4
Hope you enjoy it...

What a great song...thanks for finding it Morphy You usually get cheesy Trek songs but that one rocks! Out of the 2 versions I liked the original one better than REM's |

Amazing what you find while idling on the Net isn't it? And I must admit I too prefer the original, nice and thrashy- as punk should be! _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

Well, Spizzenergi released it as a single in 1979, and REM's version was on a Christmas single that they released for members of their official fan club ( they do so every year, with different original songs and cover versions to be found on each). _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

If you want it Ebay may have it, you wouldn't get it any other way unless you were in their fan club a few years ago! _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |
