We know it'll be a 5 part mini-series broadcast over 1 week but here's the latest news....

Filming started on the 18th August and the series will have more secrets for Captain Jack, a big crisis for Gwen and Rhys and Ianto's family background will be explored.

Casting details include Lucy Cohu who'll play Alice, a woman who is keeping many secrets from the past. Susan Brown as Bridget Spears, "a character vitally connected to the government, which plays an important part in this story." Cush Jumbo is Lois Habiba, "a secretary who hacks into some vital information." Rik Makarem is Doctor Rupesh Patanjali, "a junior doctor at St Helen's hospital, who gets drawn into Torchwood's investigations."

3 guest stars in the series are.....

Peter Capaldi who is civil servant John Frobisher, "a man who's hiding a terrible secret."

Paul Copley is Clem, "the survivor still haunted by his past."

Liz May Brice is Johnson, "a cynical covert government agent, determined to expose Torchwood."

It all looks good

Maybe the Lois Habiba and Dr Patanjali characters end up joining Torchwood?

Hmm perhaps..but you would imagine they would be promoting new members in the media if there was wouldn't you   unless they just help over this mini series run and join up permanently at the end

That might happen Luc....they help the Torchwood team defeat some great foe and they end up joining Torchwood! I still think it's strange having a mini-series broadcast over one week

Yeah it is very strange alright...though I think it may be to do with reintroucing the characters now to a new audience and a possible younger one too ..it would be easier to do this over a short period of a week .....personally I'm not pushed on it and would prefer it a weekly affair

I suppose we could always record it and watch one episode a week.....it'll feel more like a full series then

I hope they go back to the usual format if they get another series.

I don't think I could wait knowing they were there just waiting to be watched

Yeah I hope they too and I think they will as I said before I reckon this is just to reinvent it and reintroduce it to a new younger market

I've found out some info about the new aliens in Torchwood: Children of Earth......they're called the 456 and they're named after the radio wavelength on which they first communicate with Earth. No word on what they look like though!

And here's a nice little interview Eve Myles gave recently....
