Moviehole reports that McG ("Charlie's Angels") will direct Warner Bros. Pictures' "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," the upcoming fourth installment in the popular franchise.

Said to be the first in a new trilogy of films, "Terminator Salvation" is set in the future and shows off the full-scale war between Skynet and the last of humanity.

Shooting is scheduled to begin early next year, based on a script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris that was locked in October. The film is currently aiming for a Summer 2009 release.

I like the idea that its the beginning of a new trilogy....great stuff!!! I also love the idea that it is set in the future and the war with the machines

i have always wanted to see terminator in the future , so this is great for me , can't wait , hope it kicks butt.

got to be said a terminaotr movie without arnie will be strange , hope it's good though ,

Me too Sta this is the film I always wanted to see too...I also think it is better that they are going away from Arnie too after all if you recall the robots that looked like humans in the future had various looks...they didn't all look like Arnie....They may still though have a computer generated Arnie somewhere though like in a robot factory or something

here wait a minute , may be at the end of each movie they could show john sending an arnie robot back in time , that would link terminator , t2 , t3 .

I don't know if it will be at the end of each movie Sta but they are aopparently going to feature in this first movie of the new trilogy John sending back Kyle Reece (his Father) so it may show trhe Original Arnie droid going back first

He has the proper look and all this could be great!!!!!!!

He's a great actor too so it should be an excellent film if he's in it!

I actually really like Bale so this really would be cool...I loved him in American Psycho and he's a great Batman ...you need someone for John Connor who is tough ass but also looks a bit crazed at times (due to the responsibility of knowing the future and fighting the machines for years)
