This was on telly the other night, and having liked the originals I thought I'd watch it. A decision I almost instantly regretted! To me it just seemed like an incredibly lame attempt at cashing in on the franchise. Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to be in second gear throughout, and the guy playing John Connor is incredibly annoying.
About the only good thing I can say is that the actress who played the TX (modified Terminator) was rather nice looking. And I did like the idea that the robots had 'evolved' since the original films and could now remotely control other machines etc.
But overall I was disappointed.

Its been a while since I seen this film Morphy... but seeing as I was quite annoyed with T2 this third installment didn't bother me all that much...though I know what you mean it just didn't have the sheer horror classic feel of the first film and it definitely didn't have the mind blowing effects or style of Cameron's sequel however the story did sort of bring us back to the core of the original idea particularly when referring to the dynamics of time travel.
I know lots of people adored T2...and I believe I have mentioned this before but I had huge difficulties with the changes in dynamics when it concerned Time Travel...By the end of the first film you knew where you were ....the twist was revealed.....Time operated in an unbreakable loop...in other words time could not really be altered by time travel simply due to the fact that people in the future where already living in that altered future..so by the end of T1 we came to discover that if the robots never sent back one of their own to kill John then he would have had no need to send back his future dad to the past to protect his mother and so would have ceased to exist...it effectively works out that the robots where responsible inadvertantly for their own downfall a downfall and future that was unavoidable!! which leads me to the problems of T2 because they altered this with a concept that the future is not written and that somehow they could change it....I thought this was a bad tangent ansd slightly ruined the franchise for me....T3 with all its faults at least brings the films back to the earlier concept of the future being set and that this war is going to happen no matter what and for that alone I pardoned it _________________

I damn this film for 2 scenes alone. First, Arnie wearing star shaped sunglasses (altogether now, "Macho, macho man"). Secondly, "Talk to duh hand". Nick Stahl was the wrong choice for John Connor. He made the 10 year old John look tough! _________________ "Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?" |

I do have to agree with you Jip on the casting of John too I think it was pretty bad but then again this was slightly opened up due to the second film and making out that he wasn't being prepared anymore and that he thought it was all over....
The John Connor in T2 bugs the hell out of me.... I have to say aswell _________________

On the other hand, if he wasn't being prepared for war anymore and they thought they had stopped Judgement Day then surely it was a futile exercise staying off the radar, as it were. _________________ "Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?" |

Oh yeah that went past my radar too Jip ... so I had a quick read up and of what I can gather events didn't come about as originally predicted in T2 and John still didn't believe the future war had been totally averted...and that is the reason he's staying off radar....so what I'm saying earlier could still be viable considering he was no longer certain any more _________________

Is that due to the Vernon Kay Sarah? or the fact that you think too hard now when watching them Jip? _________________

Oh definatly thinking too much! I used to watch them just as a bit of turn your brain off sci-fi action fest, but you, sir, have now turned a way of forgetting about work into a blasted algebra exam that has to be transalated into English from backwards Japanese! I bid you good day, sir! _________________ "Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?" |

just don't get me started on Back to the Future after all if Marty were to change his parents in particular his father to a more confident successful person then it changes everything...including when his parents had sex and what sperm fertilised an egg so technically speaking the McFlys may have had three kids but just not necessarily those particular three kids....so I still reckon Marty should have disappeared at the end of the movie....yes these are the thoughts that keep me up at night Jip _________________
