A difficult one to call; on one hand i loved it - on the other hand i was left disappointed......
for those who don't know The Strangers circles around a couple who are terrorised in a family's holiday home by a set of masked terrorriserors hell bent on mayhem...................good but i felt the suspense was stretched far too much; to the point where i actually questioned whether or not they wished to actually do harm to our innocents
7/10 - could have been alot better i'm afraid to say

I was wondering if anyone had seen it yet.......it's had good reviews but people have said you don't get to actually see their faces, even when they take off their masks!
Is it true it's based on a real life story Scorps? |

well, you dont see their faces - but that was a good thing for me as it made them less human - therefore scarier
but; with relation to based on a true event - YES (well in a fashion)...........it states this at the beginning, but i am more than dubious to believe such a claim. Its not the 1st time this sort of thing has been said.....i.e Texas chainsaw massacre circa 1973, claiming it was true, even though part was based on the antics of one Mr Ed Gein (tenuous link at best).................so with this in mind i shall sit on the fence
remember the reality of the film U571 after which Jonathan Mostow claimed "Hey folks its just a movie" - - - - well jonathan thanks for clearing that one up....

Saw this a couple of weeks ago and agree that it was good but disappointing. As for "based on true events" that could mean one incident in the entire film added to the rest of the fictional script.
The build up was well handled and the acting by the leads especially Tyler, as she was nearly every shot, was believable. But you were left with the feeling that it was an anti climax.
Having seen it, maybe it's true audience will be found on DVD or a late Friday night trip to the movies after the pub. |

TINY SPOILERS ****************************
Nostromo i agree but i thought the tension was far too drawn out - i like cat and mouse but the attempts by the killers to catch them was a little too unbelievable..............and the killing scene was pathetic.......i for one find elaborate deaths fun but unrealistic but this was bordering on force feeding the couple pills then stroking their brows till they drifted to heaven.
