I  went to see the new M. Night Shamalhamalalahan film yesterday afternoon and was left unsure.

The film follows a period in north eastern america where strange things are a happening; people are going insane and killing themselves on a very large scale.........and it is our hero Wahlberg that has the job of leading his fmily away from the "danger zones".  The film on the whole is very interesting and is directed with a Hitchcockian aroma (which is never a bad thing).  All that said i was a tad unsure about the ending which left me still a touch thirsty (no not the flat coke); hence i shall only be giving it 7/10 - which is a good film which could have been far better (with better acting which felt 'b' movie/ish at times and a better ending)

anyone else seen it

I've seen it too......it wasn't what I'd call a great film, more a quite good one and certainly not as bad as some people have made it out to be. The storyline is very interesting and even though one of the characters says something halfway through, which practically tells you what's causing "the Happening" (and which I'd already heard about)....it didn't spoil it for me.

I'd agree about some of the acting Scorps...especially Mark Wahlberg's acting. He has this "adult talking to a child" higher pitched voice at first, which doesn't sound right.......almost as if he's trying too hard to act like the school teacher he's supposed to be. Then later on, he has strange expressions that made me wonder what emotion he was trying to get across!

It was hard pinning down what kind of a film it was supposed to be, almost like they weren't sure which way to take it........one minute it's an environmental film with sci fi elements, then you get one scene with a mad woman and it's approaching a horror film!

But I did like the film and the ending worked for me cause it wasn't too obvious.

It wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I've only seen it once, so maybe it improves the more you see it.
