I finally got to watch this thriller/drama 'Straightheads' which stars Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer and I have to say I was slightly disappointed. For a start it was quite a short film only about 80 mins long...I wouldn't have minded this if I didn't feel that there was much more in the film they could have added particularly in regard to character development
There is a few disturbing scenes but even these I felt were tame compared to other much more shocking films I've seen and I think it is this that really made me feel...downbeat about it?? Anderson does play the part well however and she gives the film , in my opinion, some edge which without her it would have been severly lacking.....

I also didn't like Dyer in the film.... he was miscast, seemed out of his depth....and just wasn't believeable in the role ....Maybe it is because I associate him with different types of parts and I have only recently watched Mean Machine again too

Even the nudity from Anderson isn't fantastic....sorry guys...

.... I thought if nothing at least we have that but its darkish and short

Its alright I suppose for a low budget British effort but its hardly going to win awards or gain any cult status....Which is a pity because I had visions of it being much much better

You'd never think of Gillian Anderson being in it but from what she's said about it she enjoyed working on the film.

Though the shotgun scene must have been a bit weird to film

Yep the shotgun scene is a disturbing one but not overly so either babe.....Gillian acts it well and you do slightly cringe as she is screaming in rage while doing it

But I was disappointed
