|
|
Star Wars duo Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen have been voted the movie couple with the most unconvincing on-screen chemistry.
Their romance in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, tops a poll which features movie pairings like Kate Beckinsale and Ben Affleck, and Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant.
I'm really not surprised I found their scenes in particular veryt difficult to watch however I do think its wrong to blame the actors alone......the writing for me was the main culprit....I think any actors would have had trouble to bring meaning or warmth to those words.......

Have you got a link to the poll results, I'd love to see the other contenders.
I think Star Wars is unfairly criticised for its dialogue. People in real life don't use sparkling dialogue do they? If you listen to people speaking, often it is nonsense or corny. |

I don't have a link to the actual results themselves and can't find one either K but I did get this which gives more info on it...hope it suffices
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were second for Gigli - despite being real-life lovers at the time.
Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were in third place for Pirates of the Caribbean.
Top 10 slots also went to Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman with Eyes Wide Shut and Leonardo DiCaprio/Kate Winslet for Titanic.
Ben Affleck appears in the list a second time for Pearl Harbor with Kate Beckinsale. Cinema ad firm Pearl & Dean polled 3,000 film fans.
Top 6: 1 Portman/Christensen, Star Wars; 2 Affleck/ Lopez, Gigli; 3 Knightley/ Bloom, Pirates; 4 Madonna/Adriano Giannini, Swept Away; 5 Catherine Zeta-Jones/Sean Connery, Entrapment; 6 Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, Four Weddings _________________

I agree with most of those couples having lack of chemistry [apart from the fact that I won't hear anything against Star Wars ]
However, the lack of chemistry doesn't always affect how much I like a film. I love Four Weddings and a Funeral despite Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant poncing about. |

There is nobody a bigger Star Wars fan then me K but I do think the new trilogy could have been much better....and its scripts were the worst part of it.... I could quote you lines from the last two films to demonstrate what I mean....I know much of the dialogue in particular between Anakin and Padme was cringeworthy and I found it very difficult to watch....as did many others....sorry
