Howdy there guys and gals, long time no speak, hope you are all well.  Sorry I've not been in touch much... hope to rectify that.

Me and my lovely wife, Shazlouise, recently watched a film (on monday to be exact) and I thought that I would give you a review of it to the best of my ability.  I say to the best of my ability because it was probably the most horrible film I have ever seen and am ever likely to see... and the same goes for Shaz, as well.
The film to which I refer is Pier Pasolini's 'Salo - or the 120 Days of Sodom '.
I don't know how much everybody knows about it, but it's a 1975 film that, after years of being banned and censored has just been released uncut. It's based on the 18th century novel by the Marquis de Sade.  It is, without doubt, one of the most awful, shocking and vile films that I have ever seen.  But that is the point of the film, and for that reason it is a very good and very well made film.  It wasn't a pleasant watch (during one section Shaz had to leave the room and I had to turn away - something that I have never done), and I will, hand on heart, never watch it again, but its themes and imagery made an impact and it certainly wasn't boring or jaded.

We have films today that show explicit CGI gore and horror and also films that show graphic and real sex... Salo has neither of these but is, to my mind, far more upsetting and unsettling to watch than anything the 21st century has to offer.

It's not a film that I would recommend but it's also not a film that I would rubbish

I've read about the film before and wondered what it was like. It sounds like one of those things you'd watch once to say that you've seen it....but it's not something you'd buy!
