Doctor Who guru Russell T Davies is to step down as executive producer of the popular series, the BBC has announced.

Davies is credited with breathing new life into the show which he brought back to television screens in 2005.

Bafta-winning Writer Steven Moffat will succeed Davies as lead writer and executive producer of the fifth series of Doctor Who.

Moffat said that the whole of his career had been "a secret plan to get this job".

Well the King is Dead....... long live the King

I have heard more about the final episode which I'll add as a spoiler later if anyone is interested

He said he was going to step down a few months ago and it looks like he meant it......but the writers are good enough to carry on with Who.
