Just discussing the first film with Rodd on At the cinema and then read this......its kind of disappointing that its continuation is on such shaky ground....hopefully the trilogy will get made as I have heard some very good reviews of it
| Dark Horizons wrote: | Whilst the domestic failure of "The Golden Compass" seemed to rule out the sequel "The Subtle Knife" happening, the healthy international returns haven't made that such a sure thing.
Now, actress Dakota Blue Richards has revealed that so far no-one has informed her of any plans to adapt the remaining two books in Philip Pullman's trilogy.
The 13-year-old, who played the lead role of Lyra Belacqua, tells Teletext: "I think they are going to see how it does when it opens in Japan. It's set in Oxford so it is going to be better received here."
The film was slammed by the Catholic Church in the US for "promoting a cold and hopeless world without God". |

To be honest, I thought the first was ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see a sequel. Saying that though, if there is no sequel, then the film has quite a pappy ending, so a sequel should appear to clear things up. I know my mum will disappointed if it doesn't come out. _________________ "Well, first of all, there's 4 of you. Your not exactly lone." |

Yes. Even if you didn't know it was based on a series of books, you would think to yourself what happens next? _________________ "Well, first of all, there's 4 of you. Your not exactly lone." |

Oh Christ ...I don't blame your Mum for being potentially disappointed then. ..that would be a real nuisance now if they don't continue _________________

| I thought it was a good film but it wasn't the great film I thought it would be. I'd still go and see a sequel if they made one though. |

| Deborah Forte (Golden Compass) said she's determined to make the sequels, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, even though The Golden Compass didn't perform so well in the US. |
