Am I the only one who thought it was a disappointing start to the new series last night? The Adipose were more funny than scary and Catherine Tate was a bit lame as Donna.

Hopefully the next episode's an improvement.

I actually quite liked the episode Morphy though then again I am a sucker for a cute little fat baby Monster

I do think it was a low scale beginning in terms of a first episode for a new season but I reckon their building things up....

By the way mate there is a post on Dr Who in the TV sci-fi section if you wanted to discuss it there either....here's a link to it

I must admit next week's looks quite good- he ends up in Pompeii on the eve of a volcano eruption, and apparently the monsters are some sort of stone creature.

Part of it was actually filmed in Rome at the Cinecitta Studios and it was the first episode that Catherine Tate filmed.......must get confusing filming episodes out of order!

Yeah...I'm wondering now after you saying that ...was the first one filmed near the end that it had Billie Piper in it??

As far as I know Luc, they filmed the first episode after getting back from Rome.

Did you notice when the credits came up that it said in memory of Howard Attfield? He played Donna's dad in The Runaway Bride episode but unfortunately he died, so that's why they've reintroduced Bernard Cribbins character and made him Donna's Grandad.

Yeah it mentioned that alright in the Confidential show and it showed him in the early readings of the script and he looked awful   They also felt it wouldn't be right to recast for the part of the Father and felt it better to just as you said to add the Grandad and I guess uit was the best thing alright

I think it'll get better towards the end...I hope they continue the tradition of bringing back the old villains like they did with the Cybermen, the Master etc.
