I just read this......
The new Star Trek film will focus much more on Spock than on the crew of the Enterprise. Also, the adventure takes place on a USS Enterprise commanded by Captain Christopher Pike, with Pike and crew being helped out by Kirk but not until much later in the film. It's unknown what ship Kirk would be serving on, but he is not yet a captain at that time. There are battles with the Klingons, and we will get to see the maiden voyage of the original Enterprise: NCC-1701. Finally, none of the film takes place at all at Starfleet Academy.
Maybe that is why there was a delay on castring Kirk...because his role wasn't that significant????

Both very good questions ladies.....
I can't see them Honey having the KLingons looking like they did in the old series....sure they were just humans with beards and weird eyebrows  No I'd say they will have the ridges......they maybe able to explain it away through the Alternative timeline storyline thats been rumoured.....
I don't know either Cat.....there seems to be different rumours all the time though maybe not as it may need for Spock to go back in time to when he served under Pike ...though I am hoping Kirk is in it more than this new rumour states

| It would feel strange if William Shatner didn't appear, even for just a few minutes. He's made his feelings known about it so maybe they'll write him in somehow? |

In read more about Shatner's annoyance and he was saying he was shocked as his appearance would have guarranteed a successful film as he can pull in the old core fans to the cinemas and in a way he has a point there
