This has been my latest read- it's basically a travel book written by Charlie Connelly, an Elvis fan who looks to follow in Elvis's footsteps and discover more about 'The King' as a worldwide phenomenon. He starts in Scotland ( where one set of Elvis's great- great grandparents came from) and goes on from there, taking in places like Memphis ( the obvious choice) and Bad Nauheim ( the German town where Elvis stayed during his two years of military service) and meeting fellow Elvis fans from around the globe in a quest to really understand, as he puts it, 'the man behind the jumpsuit'.
Some of the people he meets along the way are interesting too- among them a German man who befriended Elvis while he was stationed there, and a Finnish languages professor who records albums of The King's hits in ancient languages ( Sumerian, Latin etc) as well as the manager of an Elvis theme bar in Israel...you couldn't make it up, but it makes for an entertaining read nonetheless.

| It's amazing to think how many countries have an Elvis connection. That's the kind of book that would make an interesting travel/documentary prog. |

| There are certainly lots of Elvis impersonators around the world! Don't they have a large convention of them in Las Vegas every year?! |

Yeah, and also there's an Elvis Festival in Porthcawl in Wales- which the author attends..... _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

There's also a guy who calls himself The King and does loads of different songs in Elvis style- 'Pretty Vacant' by the Sex Pistols, 'Under The Bridge' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others have been given his treatment. _________________ The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some considered to be..unnatural. |

I just remembered a story Tom Jones told about Elvis.........Jones was performing in Vegas, came off stage all drenched in sweat and Elvis was there waiting to pitch a song he thought would be perfect for Jones to record. Jones said "not now Elvis" (they were friends so he could get away with saying that!) and that he was off to have a shower. Jones was in the shower and thought he heard Elvis singing but thought he was hearing things. The song continued....he looked up....to see Elvis bending over the shower cubicle singing this song he was pitching....all Jones heard was "huh, uh, huh" ....couldn't make out what Elvis was singing....and he never did record the song
