Richard Matheson, who wrote the original 1954 novel, has signed off sequel rights, meaning, that if Warner Bros come up with a good enough script, there could be a sequel to I Am Legend.
If it comes about, then it'll be the first time IAL has been sequelised.

He's in his 80's now so I doubt he'd write another novel as a sequel.....it would be up to a screenwriter to come up with the goods I'd imagine Luc.
I had a look at some other things he'd written......What Dreams May Become, Stir of Echoes and Duel (the famous Steven Spielberg film). He's even written some Twilight Zone episodes and the upcoming The Box movie (that you posted about).......he's a good writer! |

The ending was pretty weak, but I quite enjoyed it. _________________ "Well, first of all, there's 4 of you. Your not exactly lone." |

Not as yet. By the way Warner Bros. aren't planning a sequel. It's a prequel about the last days of humanity before the virus turns everyone. It's supposed to be starring Will Smith again. If it's set before the outbreak, I can't see there being much scope for action. I could be wrong. _________________ "Well, first of all, there's 4 of you. Your not exactly lone." |

I wondered how they'd carry on with a sequel, so I suppose a prequel makes more sense, but I wonder if they'll focus more on how the outbreak came about this time round?
Anyway, here's a link to the Variety article about a prequel BUT if you haven't seen I Am Legend yet, there's a massive spoiler in it!
