   I'm in complete shock

Heath Ledger was found dead at his Manhattan residence Tuesday in a possible drug overdose, a New York police spokesman confirms. He was 28.

Ledger was found in the bedroom of his Soho apartment around 3:30 p.m. by his housekeeper and a masseuse who had arrived for an appointment with the actor, according to the Associated Press and New York Times.

Ledger, who was in bed, did not respond when they shook him, and the housekeeper called 911. He was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. ET.

Authorities said they did not suspect foul play but that pills were found near the body.

The Perth, Australia, native was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for 2005's Brokeback Mountain, on whose set he met – and began a romantic relationship with Michelle Williams and had a daughter named Matilda Rose, in New York on Oct. 28, 2005.
However Ledger and Williams, who shared a brownstone together in Brooklyn, split in September 2007.

Ledger began his acting career in 1996, when he was 17, in an Australian TV series called Sweat.

In August 2006, Warner Bros. announced that Ledger would play the Joker in The Dark Knight, a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins....This film could be seriously delayed now too

Rest in Peace Heath....You will be missed

I saw it in the paper this morning.......I couldn't believe it and had to read the story twice before it sank in.   He had everything to live for......he was successful and his portrayal of The Joker was set to be the best yet. What a tragic waste.

Such a sad loss at such a young age.  I loved A Knight's Tale, amongst others.

Found this out at 11pm last night- I was going to put it on here, but it was too depressing and I didn't want to upset you all

That poor little girl- how will they tell a 2 year old that her daddy's dead...

Grim news indeed. There aren't many modern actors I am a fan of, but I was a fan of his. R.I.P.

The Dark Knight isn't out till July so I guess the studio would consult with his family first but I'd imagine they'd see it as a tribute to him and give the go ahead for the release.

I have to say I'm still in shock from this news everytime I hear it on the radio or telly....
The guy had such a promising future particularly with the Batman movie coming....
One of my favourite teen movies of later years has been '10 Things I hate about you' ....he was exellent in it...a very likeable character and of course like Rodd I really enjoyed a Knight's Tale too.

It must have been an awful shock to his family and friends though

His friends are saying he wouldn't commit suicide...... and he didn't leave a note so it could just be a terrible accident. It's still unbelievable that it happened...
