Is it me or do the films released close to Christmas at the box office always stink? The most recent good one I've seen at the cinema was 'Elf' with Will Ferrell, but that seemed to be an exception rather than a rule- nowadays studios seem to want to churn out samey movies every festive season and it just gets boring! So as a rule I now don't go to the cinema between the end of November and the start of a new year on principle, as all the holiday films seem to be so cheesy its untrue. I was hoping that this year might change it, but no sign of that so far, think I'll stay indoors with hot drinks hoping some good festive flicks are on telly.....

I take it the new Vince Vaughan film 'Four Christmases' is not your thing mate?   I very rarely went to the cinema around this time of year anyway...I'll always remember going to see  Santa Claus the Movie as a kid but I can't recall seeing many other christmassy ones at the cinema.. ..would have liked to have seen Scrooged when it came out first but didn't get a chance

I want to see Four Christmases   I rarely go to the cinema near Christmas cause I know how busy it is then and I like watching films in relatively peace and quiet   But, The Day The Earth Stood Still is out in December, so I'll probably go and see that one

I may see that too if it gets good reviews- I'm torn as to whether it would be worth watching as I have a fear it'll besmirch the good name of the original...

The original one was a classic and it's one of my favourites.  The remake has been getting good reviews from people who've seen previews......Keanu Reeves compares well to Michael Rennie from what I've read. I'm just hoping Gort is as good as the original one.....even after all this time, he still scares me!

I read Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn didn't get on well together when they were filming it   She's professional, knows her lines and shows up early on set...... while he's more laid back

I'll probably watch Four Xmases too Gellar   I like Christmas films

I didn't hear that Cat.. ..good one..... she was on the Graham Norton show last week and she seemed quite up for a laugh so I'm surprised that they didn't get on now

I don't know if they got on better as the filming went on but they sound like total opposites
