Star Trek co-writer Roberto Orci has said Paramount are trying to confirm the entire tean for a sequel to Star Trek XI. He said "I can give you a spoiler about the studio's state of mind. The spoiler is that they already want to lock us down to write the sequel. Take that as you will. They haven't even seen the monie yet, so this news should not be taken as evidence that we are anything special."

Good to hear another ST movie's on the cards

I do think its the safest bet on a Star Trek movie ever....with Abrams there working on it and revamping

only problem i have is why are they going back the way , in that they are starting from kirk and all that at the academy , do they not have any idea's for . like a DS9 movie or a voyager movie or even enterprise movies

Afraid not bud....the truth is they just wouldn't get the numbers into the cinemas to see those films however put a great director at the helm and bring back the iconic characters that literally everyone knows even those who are not into sci-fi mention re-imagining and you know you could have a massive blockbuster

I couldn't understand why they've gone with a prequel type film after Enterprise got panned for being a prequel series., but I'll wait and see what it's like.

I do think this could be different than Enterprise though because they were very limited because in all of Trek before Archer or his crew were never mentioned

but Kirk and co are iconic even in the Trek universe....Enterprise was starting from Scratch while this new film already begins knowing we like the characters so its a plus straight away that.....of course I'm waiting and hoping too that it will knock everyone's socks off

That was the major flaw about Enterprise Luc.....Archer and his crew could never be mentioned in all the other ST series

A lot depends on the STXI cast signing up for a sequel too. Some of them might not want to do another one in case they get typecast.

For me its a disaster because I have alot of faith in this film revamping the franchise...but if it fails I guess Trek just continues down the spiral of obscurity for the next ten years until somebody else decides to revamp it again for a new audience

It'll be a hit because people are ready for a new Trek film, especially with JJ Abrams connected to it and actors like Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg. So people will flock to see it if only out of curiosity......but it depends on how good the storyline is and if fans would want a sequel.
