ITV showed this a few nights ago and I hadn't seen it for years! As a result I'd forgotten just how funny Sacha Baron Cohen can be. Ali becomes MP for his native Staines as part of a plot by a treacherous underling of the Prime Minister (Michael Gambon) to take his place in hope that he will be outed by Ali's ineptitude. But the PM grows to like Ali and against all odds the halfwit helps the Government win praise.

It's all very well done, and underneath the crude humour there is a serious message. I loved some of the ruder jokes and the satire on show throughout and I still think its an under rated movie.

Yep i do like this film myself...and your right it kind of getsunderrated...which is unfortunate

I just think it's funny that all these little plebs think he's the bee knees when the whole point of the character is to take the smeg out of them. I remember when I went to see it, half the cinema was full of Rude Boys trying to be black and the other half was Headbangers. The Rude Boys were sitting there thinking that Ali G was their God and we were sitting there thinking this is the most ironic we have ever seen!

Him impersonating Ali G was way beyond cringeworthy!

Richard Madeley in general is cringeworthy I find... and Judy's not much better!

That all added to the novelty of seeing them out I thought to be honest..than again I would like to ritually humiliate her in the bedroom
